Psychoeducational Evaluations and Psychological Testing

Psychoeducational evaluations and assessments are conducted to identify learning disabilities, emotional and developmental delays in children, teenagers and adults. Testing can be conducted to determine the impact of various emotional, physical and medical challenges on learning and behavior. Evaluations for adults are also provided to determine if accommodations would be beneficial for specific standardized test taking.

This may be helpful when extended test taking times are needed or where learning problems impact upon the student's capacity to acquire information or complete testing in a timely manner. Dr. Gumerman is able to conduct full and comprehensive independent educational evaluations (IEE).

Vocational Evaluations and Career Planning Services

Vocational evaluation and career counseling services can be used to identify the level of skill needed for an occupation, based on an individuals ability, personality and interests. Testing, vocational evaluation and career assessment can aide the individual seeking career guidance to understand preferences and to evaluate his or her potential and earning capacity. Vocational evaluation and wage earning power assessments are also provided for the legal community for severe personal injury, divorce and long-term disability cases.

Dr. Gumerman provides these testing and evaluation services for students ranging in age from 5 years through high school and for adults returning to school or involved with advanced studies.

Accommodations testing is provided for post-secondary education and testing where learning disabilities might impact upon the person's capacity to learn and manage formal admissions examinations (GRE, SAT, MCAT, LSAT & GMAT).

Provisions for comprehensive testing involve an extensive interview and examination. A meeting is conducted with parent/child or adults for feedback at the close of the evaluation to review the results and findings. Testing can take from 2-6 hours and may be scheduled over several days. It is highly recommended that plans be made well in advance of any testing that is scheduled to allow for time to complete the examination, feedback and report writing.

The process is detailed, extensive, and designed to make specific determinations about the student's needs. This allows for recommendations so that the school staff and parents can maximize the student’s educational and learning experience.

In legal cases, the same process is followed, taking into account the reason for referral. An extensive vocational and psychological evaluation can be conducted to determine the injured worker's post-accident potential as well as any earnings loss that might be associated with the event.

Phone consultation is provided free of charge in order to help the parent or adult make a decision to determine if testing is warranted.
